You may be wondering what my qualifications are, well none actually.  Other than being an artist who has a story to tell who is terrified of writing and what others will think when they read what I have to say... I have no qualifications! 

One of the things I've learned in my studio practice over the past twenty years, is if you are afraid to try something you will never become good at it if you don't practice!  

So, in this challenge participants will write, draw, sing, and otherwise create short vignettes, about a topic we all love, birds.

The 60 Day Bird Journal Challenge! 

You will receive 10 newletters during this round of the Challenge.  Each newsletter will contain Observations, Activities, and a Challenge for a period of Ten Days.

That's right I won't be sending out daily newletters for this challenge!  Nope I will be sending out a newsletter every ten days.  There will be a couple of 'surprise or bonus' newsletters within the 60 Day Challenge, for a total of Ten Newsletters!

60 Day Bird Journal Challenge

Yes the 60 Day Bird Journal Challenge shall happen again, probably sometime around mid-May.  I had hoped I could run the challenge again starting May 1st, but I have so many things going on now with an upcoming solo show (I hang the show on April 30th) that it's not possible to put out a quality product at this time.  See you in mid May!

Day 5 The 60 Day Bird Journal Challenge

Day 5 and for today I asked members to collect images of birds whose name makes up the word bird.  We will be working with these birds for the next four days and then again towards the end of this challenge.

I sketched up some birds from my photo archives on my computer, printing them seemed a bit spendy with the cost of printer ink being what it is, so here it is in all of it's glory!  As you can see not only did I mess up the Downy Woodpecker's drawing BUT also miss spelled it's name.

Perfection is not the end goal in this challenge, the willingness to take risks and see where this leads us is, however, part of the end goal; growth is the other part of the end goal for this challenge.
